N-MFT Elections Committee Chair Martha Felix announced the results of the N-MFT contract vote, "We have the results from the ballots cast regarding the new contract. Of the 468 ballots cast, 82% voted in favor of the new contract. " She added, "Thank you to those who participated in this election!"
N-MFT President Kimberly Claytor stated, "We look forward to working with Russell Lee Sung and other colleagues to implement the new language. From the perspective our our membership, the new language regarding increased contribution to benefits by the District and preparation time for TK-3 teachers is most appreciated. Though the prep time only impacts our TK-3 teachers, all of our bargaining unit members found that moving towards equity in this area is an immensely positive move in the right direction." And, she added, "Pay increases are always appreciated!"
The next step in the process is for the School Board to approve the contract. In an email to Claytor, NMUSD School Board President Martha Fluor said about the ratification vote, "Great news Kimberly! I know Russell will continue to work with NMFT in a strong collaborate manner to ensure that the contract implementation is as smooth as possible."
