On September 20, 2020 the Newport-Mesa Federation of Teachers Local 1794 hosted a Safe Opening for Schools caravan and protest. Over 200 cars participated in the caravan that began at NMFT headquarters and ended at Costa Mesa High School. The Federation’s goal is to create awareness with the public and inform the Newport Mesa Unified School District they want every safety measure to protect our kids and teachers in place prior to opening the schools.
